Fear and Romans 8:15
Romans 8:15 (New International Version)
15For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
I prayed this morning and also did my Bible readings but I’m still feeling afraid. My short term disability ends today and my bills are covered until August 15th. After that, I will not have any income coming in.
This spirit of fear subsides for a bit but, then comes back with full force. What will I do? How will I survive? Will I become homeless? All these thoughts go through my mind and I am caught up in the swirling thoughts of doom. I keep stopping to pray, but my mind drifts away from Jesus and trust to my financial problems. Like St. Peter; he started to sink when he realized he was walking on water and when he took his eyes of Jesus, suddenly he became afraid. For today I will keep drawing my gaze back to the one who didn’t bring me this far to fail
Abba, Father, Thank You for all the lessons You are teaching me. Thank You that You are greater than my circumstances. You are also bigger than any problems I have. You promised You would never leave me. I trust in you. Amen

I just looked up the Scripture and it brought the scene of Peter to mind, perfectly. Until I read your post, I had not made such a connection. I’d definitely encourage you to keep your eyes on Christ and be not afraid to call out when fear strikes. To be fair, I need to do the same. 🙂
